Made with passion, debutant director Sunaina Bhatnagar’s “Dear Maya” is a very subtle movie. A brilliant story told with such grace that will relish your mood and lift your spirits. After the debut movie of Avinash Das’s, this is one more movie that is deeply engrossing. It required movie marketing to make the audience acquaint with Manisha’s comeback.

The movie resembles Manisha Koirala’s recent life closely since Manisha tried to come out of her illness while Maya is trying to come back to a new life after all her childhood ordeal. Apart from Manisha, no one else could have done justice to the character so well. This was a definite feel-good movie that deserves a lot more appreciation for being such a good piece of content.

Challenges

The ever beautiful Manisha Koirala’s returns to the small screen after a very long break and fights against ovarian cancer detected in 2012. It was important to perform the movie marketing to portray her comeback during movie promotion in such a way that the audience will end up watching the movie.

This fact is no more hidden than with the Indian audience, if it is not a bigger brand, a beautiful movie has a lesser rating than it deserves and people won’t show much of their interest.

This was a huge challenge on our part to make the movie reach a level where despite the absence of a big production banner or an A-list actor, the people at least know the existence of the movie and what the movie has to offer. Another challenge that we faced was that the movie was female-centric in the era where still there is male domination and people prefer to watch a male-centric movie over a female.

CHEERful Solution

Content is the King. Following the footsteps of this phrase, we focused the entire movie’s promotion making the audience aware of how beautiful the storyline was. It was needed to make people believe that what they are watching is not just any other movie but a comeback movie of the cancer fighter, the gorgeous Manisha Koirala.

Various announcements and posts were designed highlighting Manisha’s comeback. Later, the awareness about the poster launch & trailer promo was also timely & beautiful depicted by our way of movie marketing on each of the social media platforms.

Before the trailer was launched, we began with the character introduction of the other actors and finally, we brought in the hype of the trailer launch. We made sure that the campaign was spread across the social media influencers, reviewers, critics, etc.A complete package beginning from poster launch to character introduction to song promos to the trailer launch all the activities were carried out as smooth as a pancake in the entire process of movie marketing.

When the makers approached us, we knew this collaboration is going to create wonders together. And it ended up creating wonders for both the ‘Dear Maya’ team as well as for our agency. We aspire to work together once again shortly creating more such wonders.
